This training is specifically designed for staff of the European Union to enhance their storytelling skills. The training will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the elements and techniques of storytelling that are particularly relevant for their work environment. Through the exploration of storytelling ingredients, simple story structure, and story building systems, participants will learn how to craft compelling narratives that can be used to effectively communicate EU policies and initiatives. Automatic writing exercises will be utilised to help participants generate ideas and overcome writer’s block in their official writing.
The organisational use of stories will also be covered, with a focus on how to effectively use storytelling in the EU workplace to influence and persuade colleagues and stakeholders. Additionally, the training will include a Story Purpose Focus tool to help participants identify the objective of their stories, audience profiling to understand the needs and wants of the EU audience, and storytelling tactics for effective visual and vocal delivery in meetings, presentations and official documents.
The role of emotions in storytelling and the concept of neural coupling will be explored to help participants understand how to evoke emotions in their audience. Throughout the training, participants will practice their storytelling skills through visual and vocal delivery exercises and learn the importance of strong starts and powerful endings in official documents.
The training will conclude with a discussion of the Five Ts of Storytelling – Theme, Tension, Transformation, Truth, and Taste as they are relevant to the EU context.
